The future’s light
In the future, there will definitely be led lighting. LED lighting all over the place. Gone will be the humble halogen bulb, so redolent of the twentieth century. Instead, the power of the light emitting diode will rule! Sure, as the old-fashioned halogen is phased out, many people will moan and complain, saying that the new form of lighting is much harsher looking than its predecessor, but they will be as irrelevant as Victorian lamplighters complaining against the abolition of the gas light.
What will these LED lights shine upon though? The jury is still out - will we have an efficient and free society powered by as yet undiscovered forms of clean energy; or will we continue to use pollutants? Or invent whole new pollutants? Even pollutants that create mutants?
It’s always hard to know what the future is going to bring, and in no area is this more so than technology. Science fiction from fifty years ago looks like wild fantasy in some ways and is bang on in others - so from Star Trek, we don’t have phasers but we do have communicators (mobile phones). We can talk to our computers but they can’t talk back (at least not in a non passive aggressive way). And we still don’t have jet packs. But what we do have is the Internet, which gives me the opportunity to share these thoughts with you and millions of others - if they think these things are interesting of course.
So one thing is certain - the future will bring a lot of surprises!
